By nature, human beings are complex entities engulfed in a myriad of problems and issues impinging daily existence in every sphere. People have resorted to seeking suggestions and advice from time immemorial to arrive at optimum decisions in their lives. What was once informal has now become a formal seeking of Guidance and Counselling. So much so this is now an established and integral part of the HRM process. Guiding and Counselling provides a structured methodology for the resolution and solution of, hitherto, seemingly insurmountable problems and facilitates different individuals to understand themselves and their environment and to harness their innate resources to move ahead in official and personal roles. Guiding and Counselling is now a powerful enabler for individuals, groups and organisations.

BEHAVIOURAL & MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELLING
Mental health often carries a stigma of mental disorders. This is completely wrong. What is not wrong is the reality that a healthy mind contributes substantially to a healthy body and that in turn, produces a human being who can co-exist productively, harmoniously, and collaboratively in all spheres of human endeavour both at work and at home.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that it is important to take care of our mental health because it is an integral part of the human condition.

People seek Guidance and Counselling for a variety of reasons. Counseling is for mental and overall wellness as well as for specific life stresses, such as depression, a toxic workplace due to whatever reason, e.g. sexual harassment, perceived or real hostility in the environment with peer groups or superiors.
Counselling is done individually in one-on-one sessions with the counsellor. Counselling for mental health and wellness is a step-by-step and gradual process that requires time, empathy, and infinite patience. Consistency is a must in order for the therapy to be successful.

Mahua Ray Chaudhari
​She Possesses strong evaluation, assessment and counselling abilities. She has counselled numerous clients (including corporate entities) on issues pertaining to sexual harassment, perceived or real hostility in the workplace. Ms Ray Chaudhuri has assisted several organisations in effectively setting up ICC, framework for effective redressal; and in documenting policies including gender neutral policies to support multi-cultural and diverse workforce.
CAREER & EDUCATIONAL COUNSELLING
It has been a sad revelation that many potentially bright youngsters in school have taken wrong decisions in choices for further education and therefrom compounding an innocent error in judgment by rendering themselves bound for life to a profession, all be it successfully, but which does not do justice to their hidden potential and calling and underutilises their talents.
Unfortunately, schoolchildren are often goaded by whims, parental or peer pressure or even sheer ignorance in their choices and harness themselves to a life which ironically is not theirs and does not permit full happiness and fulfilment. It is a shame to see a bright student in a medical college whose real calling in life may be architecture. This is purely an example but what is not hypothetical are the pitfalls of landing up somewhere, and doing something, where their life’s calling is elsewhere.
One key element in our Mission at Hummingbirds is: to offer our expertise towards career counselling for young and impressionable students who carry the hopes and the aspirations of the New India so that they may discover their true calling in life and unleash their fullest potential.
In today’s age we need to do whatever it takes to help our student community attain success. Educational opportunity is often equated with the need for a 3-5-year college degree. Instead, it should mean an opportunity to learn what is necessary to succeed in the career of their choice.

​An academician with nearly two decades of experience in the field of Management Education and having been associated with several Business Schools across the country e.g. FOMS, NERIM, ISB & FOSTIIMA etc. Dr. Banerjee has taken career & educational counselling as one of her missions to help aspiring students in fulfilling their educational and career ambitions. She has the skills to identify talents and hidden potentials and nurture them to the fullest.
